Team Semper Fi Fund
This October 28th, I will be running the Marine Corps Marathon in Virginia as part of the Semper Fi Fund Team, in honor of USMC Sgt. Eddie Ryan. Sgt. Ryan, cousin of my friend Rachelle, is the epitome of a hero. In April 2005, Sgt. Ryan was critically wounded while serving our country in Iraq. Suffering two gun shot wounds to the head, Sgt. Ryan was not expected to live. However, Sgt. Ryan defied the odds and proved the doctors wrong and survived. He not only survived, but with the assistance of extensive rehabilitation, and the love and support of his family and friends, completed the Marine Corps Marathon in October 2010 with members of his Marine Corps Unit on a specialized handcycle. Sgt. Ryan is only one such hero serving in our Armed Forces. The sacrifices these men and women make, in the name of Freedom, are great. When freedom is in jeopardy, they come without question. In return, they deserve the best care and support possible when injured. The Semper Fi Fund provides resources and assistance to those in need. Please help me reach my fundraising goal of $1,000.00 by October 28, 2012 by making a donation to The Semper Fi Fund. Your donation, no matter how large or small, is greatly appreciated. If you have a service member you wish to honor or remember, please let me know and I will add them to my Grace Band, which I will wear on my wrist during the race—dedicating each mile run to those you name. I thank you for your support, as I run to honor USMC Sgt. Eddie Ryan and the countless heroic men and women of our Armed Forces—Oorah!
